This is being written under very welcome sunny, blue skies. So nice to see some good weather – let’s hope it lasts!
Alistair has been flying the flag at competitions already this year with a 5th in the Apprentice Championship at the BFBA Ayrshire Branch Shoeing and Shoemaking Competition hosted by J & A Ferrie Farrier Supplies and a Best Dressed Foot in a 3rd placed Welsh team at the Home International, this year hosted by Scotland, held at the Royal Highland Showground.
NIgel, with Ben and Alistair, presented at Usk College (6th April) to give a farriery lecture and leg dissection. Our thanks to Wye Valley Riding Club for the invitation and to all who attended – hope you enjoyed the evening! Thanks also for the kind donations towards our charity, The Farriers Foundation.
Nigel and Claire attended a meeting at Stoneleigh last week (14th April) for an update and Q&A session on the future changes for the farriery apprenticeship. A new standard is being set and we look forward to monitoring further developments. We invest in our apprentices and aim to offer a first class apprenticeship and it is hoped that the changes will continue to enable us to offer this.
This weekend Nigel and Claire are off to a clinic hosted by the ‘Olympic Farriers’ and Alistair is plotting his next competitive challenge! Ben, now in his final 6 months of his apprenticeship, is preparing his shoe board to be presented as part of his final examinations.
